Ideas for Small Bathroom Designs

As much as possible, keep the floor space free except for your tub, shower stall and toilet. Overhead spaces can still accommodate cabinets, hamper hooks and racks. You can also use corners for a hanging sink and a corner shower booth.

You could for example push your bath tub and toilet to the wall to ensure that no remaining unused space at the back remains. The key is to make the most out of these small unused areas. Use Corner and Overhead Spaces Make use of unused spaces. Mix and match pastel colors for your floor, walls, cabinets and fixtures. These are also the colors that can make any room fell fresh, airy and relaxing.

These colors create the impression of spaciousness. Light, pastel colors on the other hand with small designs are perfect. These can make your bath seem both assuming and smaller than it is. Small bathrooms should always avoid dark, heavy colors.

Pick Light Colors The color of your bath is crucial to creating great first impressions. Here are some top ideas for small bathrooms. Although the space element may be limited, there are several creative ways to maximize what you have. Homeowners need not stress over small bathroom designs.

Victorian Bathroom Design

Modern blinds will be too 21st century so instead opt for sweeping curtains with tassled tie backs to create a lavish finish. Miniature trinkets and detailed objects will only add to the character and warmth. Clutter is not a disadvantage in a Victorian styled bathroom design as it creates a more lived in feel. Manufactures such as Hudson Reed specialise in traditional showers to create the ultimate classic look.

Fixed shower heads with wide projections are a must have with traditional fixed arms it creates a classic replica. Portraits should be placed in the main focus of the room for guests and family to view clearly. Black and white family portraits are a great way to imitate the united front families resembled in that period. Pretty mirrors with decorative edges and pictures were common features seen in the bathroom.

Effective Victorian styles are available from manufacturers such as Victoria and Albert with ball and claw feet similar to that period. Towards the end of the 19th century many bathrooms became alot smaller so cast iron baths were changed for freestanding bath designs which were thought to be more hygienic. In almost all traditional bathroom designs the bath is always the main feature, so keep this in mind.

The Right Bathroom Sink

Choosing the right bathroom sink involves a little more than just finding which one looks good. Sure, you want your sink to project your bathroom's style and some sinks, like vessel sinks, can actually be the focal point of the bathroom. But before you make any buying decisions there are a few things to consider.Whether you're remodeling, building new or just replacing an old sink will determine which direction to take when choosing a new bath sink. You'll need to be sure the sink you want is compatible with the faucet you currently have or will have, if you'll be buying both.Other factors like installation type, configuration and material also come into play. Once you understand how to blend them with your own wants and needs, you'll be better equipped to make the right choice.

Choosing Your Bathroom Vanity

Whatever type you choose, make certain that your bathroom vanity must compliment your bathroom style. Take note that a bathroom vanity is often the first item noticed so make certain that it stays clutter-free and clean at all times, keeping most of your things tucked in the drawers or cabinets. Before you select your bathroom vanity, evaluate your home's personal style. Is your home filled with antique furnishings? Or is personal style leaning a more modern look? Incorporate your home's general design into your bathroom then create a relaxing space.

Bathroom Tile Design

The harlequin pattern is a true classic. Basically, a tile design that boasts a harlequin motif is arranged as diamonds rather than squares. The tiles tend to be a little longer and the pattern resembles a costume in a way. You can opt for this classic design in just about any combination of colors from earthy tones to bright reds.I personally like a harlequin bathroom design in black and white. The diamond shape of the pattern really yields well to the stark contrast of the extreme colors. The bath looks sparkling clean and shiny. Adding a chrome tub and shower tap to the mix will give the area a fresh, shimmering glow which is ideal for the bath area.

Bedroom Floor

Bedroom flooring selection is often dependant on the climate, as well as your taste. In New Zealand – most of the South Islanders have carpet on their bedroom floor because it is warm underfoot which is wonderful in the winter as it gets very cold.
The opposite can apply to the North Island where it is hotter and more humid, therefore hard flooring is often a better option, cooler underfoot and reduces the risk of the carpet getting damp in the humidity.

Bedroom Lighting

Lighting creates the mood in the bedroom. Careful planning of bedroom lighting ensures that the space can be multifunctional. Soft and subdued for a romantic look, task lighting for reading at night, strong daylight for getting dressed and putting on make up. It's not until you actually stop and think about the tasks you perform in the bedroom that you realize all the different types of lighting you require.
